Chopper Spirals Out of Control into Palm Trees at Frequented Southern California Shoreline
A helicopter hovering over a crowded California beach unexpectedly began spiraling uncontrollably, ultimately descending rapidly and smashing into a line of palm fronds as spectators looked on.
Recordings uploaded online depict the aircraft commencing to spiral above the beach then plunging in the direction of the border of the beach, where it becomes wedged amidst palms and a steps close to the shoreline route.
Emergency Response Update
Emergency responders said five persons were rushed to the hospital including two individuals who were in the chopper and were “rescued from the debris” after the incident on the weekend.
Three people on the road were injured. Information on their wounds were not immediately available.
What led to the incident was still under investigation.

Officials indicated the aircraft was associated with an regular “Cars with Copters” charity gathering planned for the next day.
